5k Run for Thirst

Sunday, August 06, 2017 8:00 am
This event does not repeat

Everyday, women and children in developing nations worldwide are tasked with the responsibilty of retreiving water for their families. They walk all day, often without proper footwear, to streams and ponds where they retreive dirty, diseased and contaminated water. Not only does this present a major health concern, but also puts a burden on the education and economy of the area as progress in either area is impossible due to the lack of time women and children have to attend school or get a job.

The Thirst Project Organization is the world's largest youth-run charity organization and is determined to end the global water crisis. They take donations and build wells and give the population there clean, fresh water.

This race's proceeds will go directly to the organization and will be put towards futhering progress and development in these areas. For more information, visit .

The race wil be held at Finger Lakes Community College. For more information, or for questions, contact Emily Abplanalp at 585-315-8658 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
