Made in the ROC 5K/10K @ Eastman Business Park
Aug 16 @ 8:00 am

Boots and Ellen (Owners of YellowJacket Racing) got to go on a tour of the property, so unique and to them beautiful in its own way. Some spots have so much piping going between buildings it almost feels like you are in a tunnel. The property was (and still is) the home of Eastman Kodak, among several other corporations. Once upon a time, this property housed much of Kodak’s manufacturing, research and industry. This property was like a forbidden land for runners. Unless you worked on the property you don’t normally get to see the expansive industry that occurs there for Rochester. And now it’s gates are opening to runners and walkers at Made in the ROC 5K/10K. Today, known as Eastman Business Park, is the home to various industries including energy, food & beverage, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical manufacturing, plastics, roll to roll manufacturing and photonics. It employs thousands and creates products and services right here in Rochester, NY.

Both courses will run UNDER Ridge Road. They’ll go past George Eastman’s Memorial where his ashes are buried, past Kodak’s oldest building, along with several other corporations. This course exhibits beauty via its industrial and creatively engineered buildings and infrastructure. You can feel the productivity, imaginativeness and inventiveness throughout the campus.

The idea is to celebrate all that has been created in the ROC in the past, present and future. #madeintheroc

Amenities Include:

Finisher medals – to commemorate the Original Kodak Brownie camera
Chip timing by YellowJacket Racing
Premium blend cotton short sleeved t-shirts to all registrants by August 3rd plus the next 100 registered.
Plenty of post-race food for all participants

Daniel’s Run 5K @ Churchville Chili Middle School
Aug 22 @ 8:30 am – 12:00 pm

Our 5K is in remembrance of Daniel Myslivecek, who lost his battle with Melanoma at the age of 16. A friend of Daniel’s organized the first 5K in 2005 to help the family with medical costs. Daniel ran in that first race and died 4 months later from his illness. The 5K has continued with the support of our community and each year the proceeds are given to a family or organization that helps children with a life-threatening illness while heightening Melanoma awareness. Our organization has also partnered with the Golisano Children’s Hospital. In a three year period we raised $25,000 for support of the hospital and are fortunate enough to have a piece of the hospital in Daniel’s name.

This is the second race in the Rochester Runner of the Year Series.

Black Diamond Express Half Marathon & 5K @ Lehigh Valley Trail - Mendon to Rush
Aug 30 @ 8:00 am – 1:00 pm

The Lehigh Valley Trail is the former home to one of the most celebrated American railroads of all time: The Lehigh Valley — home of the famous Black Diamond Express passenger train, which ran from New York to Buffalo.

While the land that comprises the Lehigh Valley Trail is owned by Monroe County Parks, this rails-to-trails project was created by (and is maintained, year-round by) a small but passionate non-profit group called the Mendon Foundation, and we at the Mendon Foundation depend on privately-collected donations and volunteer help to mow, groom and improve it so that you can continue to enjoy it, year-round, for walking, hiking, biking, running, and more.

If you’re a runner, one of the best ways you can support the Trail and the Mendon Foundation is to run the Black Diamond Express Races, on Sunday, August 30, 2020.

The 5K is the 6th race in the Rochester Runner of the Year Series!
