The GRTC Summer Picnic is a newer tradition that we invite you to attend. This year, the event repeats locations, Durand Eastman Park, to allow for options of scenic trail or road miles preceding the lunch and additional activities.

Attendees will gather at the Acorn Shelter on Log Cabin Road at Durand Eastman Park in Rochester at 11 a.m. Shortly thereafter, folks will split up as they wish to enjoy one of three options: a ~3-mile trail route (marked with flags), a 2-mile road route, or a 3-mile road route, all put together by Tina Pellegrin. She describes the trail portion as a mix with “some dirt, some pavement to cross the road, some roots, some grass. Some are narrow, single-track, some are wider. Lots of hills, nothing super big.”

Lunch will be ready around 12:30. We’ve ensured the build-your-own-bowl from CoreLife includes options for people with a wide variety of food preferences, concerns, and needs. Additionally, there will be drinks and desserts. The menu is listed on the registration page.

Optional activities will include a giant generic version of Jenga, at least one trivia-style game, and some lawn games.

Register at, preferably by July 25, so we have an appropriate amount of food and beverages. We want to make sure there’s enough for everyone without overspending.
